When photographers visit.

We had the pleasure of receiving a most wonderful email from Karel Vandersloten.  He came for a visit to the three SAASA Sanctuaries – Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary.  Then as a bonus he send us a great email thanking us but it is us who should thank him for sharing these great photos with us.

When I showed this photo to some of the staff they could not believe that this was taken just out side Monkeyland.  This is actually a photo of the Monkeyland Farm, where we prepare food for the animals – this is seen by us as place where we work very hard.  Yet in the words of Khaya our receptionist: “Through the eyes of Karel this looks like an exotic place where you buy the postcards so you can show everyone how amazing it is”. I think that pretty much sums up this amazing photo:

Amazing right?  Well see below for more photos of Karel’s visit.

Finland Bachelor in Garden Route, South Africa

The Finnish version of the reality romance TV series The Bachelor was shot in The Crags, Knysna, George and Wilderness on the Garden Route. The filming took place between the 20th of January and the 8th of February 2016.

Bachelor Add Finland

We at the South African Animal Sanctuary Alliance was pleased to have the film crews visit two of our three sanctuaries = Monkeyland and Birds of Eden.

Our contact was Patrick Walton, the producer of Shoot Away Productions and the originator of Official South African Casting Association (OSCASA). Due to the way we run our sanctuaries with a NO Touch policy we are often skipped when Productions and Celebrities visit the Garden Route. However Patrick put us on the itinerary and we hope he enjoyed it as much as we did.

Patrick and the rest of the scouting team came to check out Monkeyland and Birds of Eden a few days before the actual shoot and on the day of the filming they showed up bringing the rain with them.  Lucky for the girls with their pretty hairdo’s – thanks to Marelize Earle of George – the rain stopped and the filming went down without a hitch….no pun intended!

The ladies looked beautiful and the Bachelor a tad bit nervous – one have to wonder was he nervous about the free roaming Monkeys and Birds or the ladies that he had to choose between.

Thank you to Patrick for sharing these photos and especially to Anton Alberts Photography.  We hope to see more filming here at Monkeyland, Birds of Eden and Jukani Wildlife Sanctuary.  Please contact Lara Mostert on lara@monkeyland.co.za for any and all information on filming in our sanctuaries.

And to the Bachelor and the Ladies – we wish you only the best = love + luck + happiness!
